Amazon.com got a few more copies of the Collectors Edition of SWTOR in. Apparently these are from people rage cancelling. If you are a Prime member, you get free release day delivery too.
I think it's because they are acting like infants. They have a misconception that pre-ordering costs more, even though it doesn't, then they read "UP TO 5 days early access" and deciding that means "I WILL get in exactly 5 days early". So the first issue they are having is that they heard that they might not get the full 5 days and lose their minds. Then Origin decides to increase it to 7 days, adding 2 days and announces that people will gain access in groups based on when they pre-registered. Most people will be in with the full 5 days but if you pre-ordered recently, many people will get in before you and they are all up in arms over that.
What it boils down it is this: They want to be the first ones in the game and if they can't, then they quit.
Ya thats pretty much it, if you head over to ToR general forums, you can see quite a few of the "Bioware is going to fail with this game because I can't get in as early as other people!" posts. Its all quite amusing to me anyway. They all feel they everyone should have the same early acess as everyone else. Bioware was smart in having early acess, it allows them to get some players out of the starting areas so that they can reduce lag, performance. Only problem was the number of pre-orders far exceeded what they predicted. So they decided to stagger the starting of the early access by the date you enter your pre-order code, Now some people didnt enter their code right away for whatever reason, weather they didnt get the code right away or forgot, or whatever the reason. They feel its not their fault and that they should be first in. All in all just a bunch of whiners, who will bitch and complain in a few weeks when they go to buy the game again after they cancelled and they can't get the collectors edition.
I am happy the way they did it, even if I would have waited longer, on the weekend stress tests you would see the starting area's full, it was hard to find the mobs you needed to complete quests, and people were just running around like crazy. Yesterday when I logged on I recall one quest where I had to kill 3 mobs, I found a herd of them as to where when I was in beta, I ran around for 15 minutes trying to find 3 in the same area that there were so many of them last night. So good for bioware to forward think this a little bit. It kind of sucks that not very many are on but it is only a few days.
I believe you've hit it right on the head. Young people these days have an entitlement mentality in general. I remember a few years ago when my nephew was 12, I decided to take him along on a road trip to the ocean, because I had never seen it and wanted to swim in it. We saw it but couldn't find anything resembling a beach, just bolders for miles and miles. When we got home again, he threw a fit similar to a 2 year old's temper tantrum, complete with tears. Was quite entertaining watching a 12 yo do this.
